At one time, we were the second-largest fast-food franchise in the country—1,200+ stores strong. Today, we’re one.
One store. One county. One town.

This building opened in 1967 as Burger Chef, and it has never shut down for a single day. Tomorrow morning in 2026, it’ll open again—as The Chef. The only original-style Burger Chef building left on earth that never closed its doors for any extended period of time except snow days. It has never gone out of business.

My dad spent his entire life in this building—building a legacy for something that already carried more legacy than most could imagine. My grandmother, cousins, aunts, uncles, and brother have all poured their hearts into this place—some in the past, many still today.

You ever walk into an old building and think, Who all touched these walls?
Or If these walls could talk…

I get to feel that every single day—with the weight and the absolute honor of knowing we are the last of a “dead” breed. The power of 1,200 stores distilled into one set of doors.

It’s a time capsule to a simpler time—a little Mayberry in a busy world. And getting to protect that, live it, and share it with the best customer base on earth is something we cherish beyond measure and never take lightly.

I’m proud of who we were, who we are, and who we will always be. We aren’t Burger Chef anymore—we are The Chef. And The Chef has had an even longer run.
